Hovena Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Hovena (“we”, “our”, or “us”) handles information when you use the Hovena iOS app. Hovena is a personal declaration practice: you write or speak a short declaration, add one gratitude, stamp a visual anchor, and keep the page in a local archive.

1. Information we handle

• Practice content you create: declarations, gratitude notes, favorite flags, visual-anchor images, day streak, and drafts.
• Studio identity you provide: a nickname (1–20 characters) and an optional profile photo from the camera or your photo library.
• Preferences: in-app reminder on/off and times for Morning, Noon, and Evening, plus read-aloud sound.
• Limited device context used to open the app: device identifier, app version, system version, model, language, region, and timezone.

2. How we use it

We use this information to:

• Show Today, Workbench, Archive, Keepsakes, and Studio.
• Stamp a declaration, draw a visual anchor from your text, and store the page on this device.
• Let you set a Studio profile photo with the camera or photo library.
• Let you dictate a declaration with on-device speech recognition.
• Read a stamped page aloud on this device when you ask.
• Present the system share sheet when you tap Share.
• Keep a sign-in session so the app can open.

Your declaration text is used only to draw the visual anchor. That request data is temporary and deleted right after the image is produced. The finished image is stored in the Hovena app sandbox. We do not sell or share your writings with third parties for their marketing.

3. Permissions

• Camera: used when you take a Studio profile photo.
• Photo Library: used when you choose a Studio profile photo from your library.
• Microphone: used when you choose dictation on the Workbench.
• Speech Recognition: transcribes dictation on your device. Audio is discarded immediately and is not uploaded.

A profile photo stays in the Hovena app sandbox on this device. Denying camera or photo-library access only blocks that picker; you can still use a default Studio portrait. Denying microphone or speech access only blocks dictation; typing still works. You can change permissions in iOS Settings.

Practice reminders run inside Hovena. We do not send system push notifications and we do not read your notification settings.

4. Storage

Declarations, gratitude notes, streak, favorites, reminder choices, nickname, profile photo, and anchor images are stored in the Hovena app sandbox and app preferences on your device.

To open the app, Hovena may contact our configuration service with limited device context (identifier, OS, model, language, region, timezone, and environment) and receive session settings. That service does not receive your declaration text, gratitude notes, or archive images as a stored journal.

5. Adjust

Hovena uses the Adjust SDK to measure app installs. Limited device information needed for that measurement may be sent to Adjust. Practice features still work if you decline the iOS prompt.

6. Sharing

We do not sell your declarations, gratitude notes, or nickname. We may share limited information with:

• Service providers that help operate configuration, session, image drawing for visual anchors, and Adjust for install measurement, only as needed for those purposes.
• Parties required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights and safety.

When you tap Share, iOS presents the system share sheet and you choose where the card goes.

7. Retention and deletion

Practice data remains on the device until you delete an entry, sign out of related account actions, or use Delete Account in Studio. Delete Account permanently removes archive, keepsakes, streak, profile photo, and reminder settings stored by Hovena on this device after you type DELETE. Copies you already sent through Share are outside the app and are not removed by Delete Account.

Signing out pauses reminders and keeps your draft. You can sign back in on the same device.

Session data on our configuration service is kept only as long as needed to operate the app, then expired or deleted under ordinary operations.

8. Your choices

• Edit your nickname or profile photo in Studio.
• Favorite or remove keepsakes in Keepsakes.
• Turn in-app reminders on or off.
• Log out or Delete Account from Studio.
• Manage camera, photo library, microphone, and speech permissions in iOS Settings.

9. Children

Hovena is not directed to children. Do not use the app if you are not permitted to do so under the laws that apply to you.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy when Hovena features, platform rules, or App Store requirements change. The date above shows the latest version.
